Cartography

The map room. The centrepiece so far is a full-country relief sheet of Kyrgyzstan — Copernicus GLO-30 terrain, feature-preserving smoothing for a painterly hillshade, hypsometric tints and glacier linework styled after the Soviet cartographic tradition, place names in Cyrillic. It underpins the climbing atlas and this site's own masthead.

Per-region sheets, per-trip-report route maps in the same style, and — eventually — printed editions are all on the bench. A fuller account of the pipeline (QGIS, WhiteboxTools, and a lot of ramp-fiddling) will live here as it matures.
